The Annapurna Circuit is a perfect blend of breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural encounters, and outstanding physical challenge. Ideal for those seeking a journey that offers diverse experiences in a single trek, this route reveals Nepal’s remarkable geographical and cultural variety step by step.

Beginning in terraced lowland valleys, the trail ascends through mid-hill forests, high-altitude deserts, and dramatic mountain passes. Along the way, encounters with Gurung and Thakali communities bring the region’s vibrant mountain lifestyles to life. Each day offers a new rhythm—an invitation to slow down, listen to the body, and move in harmony with the land.

One of the most distinctive highlights of the program is Tilicho Lake, situated at approximately 4,919 meters. Regarded as one of the world’s highest high-altitude lakes of its size, Tilicho is framed by sheer rock walls and glacial terrain, adding both visual grandeur and contemplative depth to the journey.

The defining moment of the trek is the crossing of Thorong La Pass. At 5,416 meters, this iconic high mountain pass represents both the physical and mental summit of the Annapurna Circuit. The crossing begins before sunrise and unfolds in silence, wind, and prayer flags—marking not only a geographical threshold, but a deeply personal one.

If you are looking for a trek that combines constantly changing landscapes with the warmth of local communities, the legendary Annapurna Circuit is for you. Recognized as one of the world’s classic long-distance treks, this route circles the Annapurna Massif, home to towering peaks such as Annapurna II, Annapurna III, and Annapurna IV.

The Annapurna Circuit offers a rewarding and transformative Himalayan experience—where nature, culture, and personal resilience come together on one unforgettable journey.

We meet at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to our 4-star hotel. After meeting the whole group, we hold our pre-hike meeting and then rest.

After breakfast, we will finish up the last few things and do our shopping for the hike. In the remaining time, we will visit Kathmandu's famous squares.

We get up early in the morning and set off for Besisahar. It's a 7-8 hour journey north to Besisahar. The highway winds through hills, small villages, and terraced fields, gradually curving away from Kathmandu.

After traveling along the Trishuli River to Mugling, we enter the Marsyangdi River valley. After a short lunch break in Dumre, we continue our rapidly ascending journey accompanied by views of rice fields and the mountains on either side (don't forget to have your camera ready).

The view of green hills gives way to higher peaks on the horizon. In the afternoon, we arrive at Besisahar (760m). This small town is located at the foot of the mountains, surrounded by nature. After eating something, we set off for Dharapani, the starting point of the trek, before it gets too late. We will spend the night here in a charming tea house.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek officially begins with our hike to Upper Pisang (3,300 m). The trek starts at dawn from Chame (2,650 m). The route initially follows the Marsyangdi River, then turns up a narrow valley towards Pisang.

Today's journey is quite strenuous, as it marks the official start of the trek. You will need to walk for approximately 5-6 hours. The elevation gain from Chame to Upper Pisang is about 600 meters. As you climb higher, the dense forest gives way to a sparser and more open terrain. You can see Lamjung Himal (6,983 m), guarding the entrance to Manang, and Annapurna II (7,937 m) appearing ahead.

Along the way, you can see whitewashed mani walls and buckwheat and potato fields. Upper Pisang village is a charming village with Tibetan influences. The houses are built of traditional stone, and a colorful monastery sits above the valley.

We spent a night in Upper Pisang. It's a perfect place to acclimatize before heading to higher altitudes. Enjoy the view of Annapurna II and Pisang Peak from the veranda of the tea house.

Maximum altitude: 3300m

Tea House

We leave Pisang in the morning. Another day of the Annapurna Circuit Trek begins with a descent through barley fields.

The surrounding landscape transforms into high mountain desert, an open tundra covered with juniper bushes. Looking down from the top, a clear view of the Annapurna peaks emerges. Ahead, to the west, are the magnificent views of Annapurna III and Gangapurna.

The final climb takes us to the village of Manang (3,540 m). This beautiful village, located on a plateau beneath vast glaciers, is a popular destination due to its magnificent views and flat-roofed stone houses. The view of the Annapurna mountain range is so beautiful that many climbers say this is one of the most beautiful spots on the Annapurna Circuit Trek.

We stay in Manang for two nights to acclimatize to the altitude.

Maximum altitude: 3,540m

We will climb the Buffalo Ridge trail, a nearby ridge known for its panoramic views of the Annapurna mountain range. We return to Manang village for lunch. You can relax or explore the village in your free time.

The village is very peaceful. Manang's winding streets feature several gompas (monasteries) and an old Tibetan-style museum. During your stay, you will notice that we are at a high altitude. Therefore, the rest day we will spend in Manang is very important, as we will stay at a lower altitude and then climb a little higher to acclimatize our bodies to the high altitude.

We are staying one more night in Manang. Tonight's dinner is a great opportunity to try Tibetan stew or yak meat.

Maximum altitude: 3765m.

Today, we will ascend towards Siri Kharka before Manang Valley, cross the 4,000-meter elevation mark, and attempt to reach Tilicho Base Camp. We will continue walking along a rocky and challenging trail between towering peaks. As we ascend, vegetation becomes sparse due to low temperatures and strong winds. After crossing the river via a suspension bridge, we will pass by the Kangsar settlement.

Although the route is not particularly steep, it can be challenging due to the narrow trail and loose rocky terrain. We must be extremely careful as the area is prone to landslides. The vegetation will gradually thin out and the weather will get colder.

When we reach Tilicho Base Camp, we will take a break and spend the night in a tea house.

Maximum altitude: 4200m

We will get up very early today to set off at dawn. We will then begin our hike by climbing up from the main camp along a rugged and steep mountain trail. Although the trail is challenging, we will not miss out on enjoying the breathtaking mountain views.

We will then reach Tilicho Lake at an altitude of approximately 5,000 meters. Seeing the massive mountains surrounding the turquoise, clear lake is breathtaking. The lake offers the most beautiful view of the Tilicho peak. After enjoying this beautiful view, we will return to the main camp, rest for a few hours, and have lunch. Then we will continue our hike, return to Siri Kharka, and spend the night there.

Maximum altitude: 4,919m

With yesterday's fatigue still lingering, today's hike won't be too strenuous. We'll calmly retrace our steps and pass Tare Gumba to reach Yak Kharka.

To reach Yak Kharka, we will descend to Khangsar Village. After climbing for a while, we will reach a plateau. Then we will cover a short distance to reach Yak Kharka. Here we will stay at a tea house and have our dinner.

Today we are experiencing one of the most important sections of the Annapurna Circuit Trek, as we are only one day away from crossing the Thorong La Pass (5416 m). The trek is short but strenuous. It begins early in the morning, slowly passing through the Churi Ledar meadows.

After climbing above 4300 meters, the vegetation thins out and we see a narrow pass with a landslide area. After crossing a long suspension bridge, we reach Thorong Phedi (4450 m) in the late afternoon. After lunch, we begin the final climb. We climb steadily up from Phedi in the afternoon. Walking up the zigzag rocky slope, we finally reach Thorong High Camp at an altitude of approximately 4880 meters.

The views stretching down the valley and towards Thorong Peak and Annapurna IV offer memories that will last a lifetime. The winds are very strong here, so we head to the tea house to spend the evening. Tomorrow will be the hardest day: we will cross the Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters.

Maximum altitude: 4,900

Konaklama

Today is the most challenging day of the Annapurna Circuit Trek. The adventure begins before dawn. The trail climbs steeply up the moraine slope from High Camp. Due to the difficulty of the terrain (often covered in snow), the altitude, and the cold morning air, you must be very careful. After about 4-5 hours of walking, we reach Thorong La Pass (5416 m), the highest point of the trek. From the summit, we see a 360° panorama: the Annapurna mountain range to the south and southwest, Dhaulagiri to the west, and the long Kali Gandaki valley below. A “Congratulations” sign marks this achievement.

After enjoying the magnificent views of the Annapurna region, we began our descent. As we headed towards Muktinath Temple, the altitude dropped by 1,600 meters. The descent would not be easy due to the rocky and steep path (slippery in places due to melting snow). After walking for a while, the terrain gradually changes. Green pastures where yaks graze appear around us. We arrive at Muktinath (3,760 m) in the afternoon. We spend the night in Muktinath.

Maximum altitude: 5,416 m

And it's reward day! After breakfast, we'll depart from Muktinath and travel by car, stopping first at Tatopani for lunch. Here, we'll relax and unwind in the hot springs before heading to Pokhara for dinner.

We will enjoy the magnificent mountain and valley views along the way. The road follows the Kali Gandaki River, passing through the breathtaking Kagbeni and Jomsom valleys. Along the way, we will see the majestic peaks of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri rising on either side of the Kali Gandaki Canyon, the deepest canyon in the world.

We will settle into our hotel in Pokhara, get a good night's sleep, and recharge our energy for city tours.
