Journey to Dersim’s Culture and Geography offers visitors an extraordinary Anatolian adventure that combines nature walks, cultural heritage, and spectacular landscapes into one memorable experience.

We will meet at Elazığ Airport no later than 12:00 today. Please choose morning flights when booking your tickets.
To cross the Keban Dam Lake from Elazığ to Dersim, we will use a ferry. The land journey from the airport to the ferry terminal will take approximately 25 minutes. The ferry crossing to Pertek (the opposite shore) will take approximately 15 minutes.
After crossing to the Pertek side, we will visit Pertek Castle on the island using the Pertek Municipality sightseeing ferry. After visiting this magnificent castle and its surroundings, which dates back to the Urartian period, our program will continue with a visit to Sağman Castle and Sağman Mosque (approximately 30 minutes from Pertek center).
On the return journey, we will stop at Pertek Thermal Springs for rest and free time. Afterwards, we will visit Çelebi Ağa Mosque and the Pertek town center.
After dinner, tents will be set up in Pertek Camcı Hıdır Park, and we will rest.

Alternative Accommodation Note:
Considering travel fatigue and weather conditions, accommodation may be in a hotel in Pertek center if a suitable and clean hotel is available. Similarly, if a suitable restaurant is found, dinner and breakfast may be taken at the restaurant. The choice between camping or hotel accommodation will be finalized according to the conditions of the day and the general situation of the group.

We wake up at 7:00 AM, have breakfast at 7:30 AM, and pack up our camp. Then we set off towards Çemişgezek. The journey between Pertek and Çemişgezek is approximately 66 km.
In Çemişgezek, we first visit the İn Delikleri caves and the historic Tahar Bridge. Afterwards, we take a short walk in the town center, see the market, and have lunch there.
In the afternoon, we move on to Hozat. Here, we visit the Ergen Church. Then we go to the town center and see the Hozat Springs, which are about a 20-minute walk away.
At the end of the day, we continue towards Ovacık. We take a short break in Elgazi Village along the way. In the evening, we go to our campsite in Ovacık, set up our tents, and stay overnight.

  • We have plenty of photo breaks and adjust the pace according to the group.

We wake up at 7:00 AM and have breakfast at 7:30 AM. After breakfast, we do some quick shopping and complete our preparations for the hike. At 8:15 AM, we set off towards Gözeler Village for the Kırk Merdiven Waterfalls hike. After a short 15-minute (7 km) journey, we start our hike at 9:00 AM.
This trail, totaling 13 km (round trip), involves trekking on rocky and stony terrain at times. Although the distance may not seem long, the stony ground can make the hike tiring. Therefore, we recommend using ankle-high trekking boots.
We continue our hike by progressing through and along the valley and slopes, crossing the stream on both sides in places. We start the hike at an altitude of approximately 1400 m and reach 1870 m at the end of the trail. We follow a distinct path throughout the entire route. In order:
We see the Forty Stairs Waterfall,
then the Twin Waterfalls,
and then the Forty Stairs steps. The walk to this point takes approximately 2.5 hours. After short rests and photo breaks, we return along the same path to Gözeler Village. After completing our walk, we go to Ovacık center and from there we set off towards Munzur Springs (approximately 20 minutes). We spend time at the springs as we wish, take photos, and enjoy our free time.
We return to Ovacık center for dinner. In the evening, we enjoy the day around the campfire at the Anahita facility. At the end of the day, we return to our campsite and stay in our tents.

Notes:

  • Walking poles and ankle boots make the walk comfortable.
  • Water sources are available, we can fill our water bottles on the way.
  • Be careful of slippery surfaces around the waterfall.

We wake up at 7:00 AM and have breakfast at 7:30 AM. After breakfast, we do some quick shopping and complete our preparations for the hike. At 8:15 AM, we set off towards Şahverdi Village for the Mercan Valley and Mercan Lakes hike.
The distance from Ovacık to Şahverdi Village is approximately 25 km, and the journey takes about 45 minutes. After reaching the village, we begin our hike.
Today, we hike approximately 20 km, and the hike takes about 4 hours. Our starting altitude is 1530 m, and we reach 1930 m when we arrive at the lake region. We experience a half-hour climb at the beginning of the stage, then continue our hike with a gentler incline along the stream. We can meet our water needs from the stream along the route.
Along the route, we progress through the unique nature of the Mercan Valley and see the two Mercan Lakes located in the region. We have lunch by the lake, rest, and take photo breaks. Afterwards, we return along the same route and complete our hike in Şahverdi Village. From there, we return to Ovacık, and then set off towards Dersim city center. Along the way, we enjoy the unique views of the Munzur Valley. First, we take a tea break at Halvori Springs, then visit the Thirty-Eight Rocks. At the end of the day, we set up our camp in Dersim city center and stay in tents.

  • It is a good idea to bring an extra layer of clothing in case of wind by the lake.

We wake up at 6:00 AM and have breakfast in the center of Dersim. After breakfast, we complete our daily shopping and set off towards Pülümür.
We stop at Kutudere and Zağge along the way, take short walks, and have photo breaks. After a tea break at Kırmızıköprü, we continue to Kocatepe Village. We see the Askireg Hotel in the village and take photos in the surroundings.
After passing Kocatepe Village, we climb to the last point accessible by vehicle, approximately 2500 m. Here we get out of the vehicle and begin our hike. The route is a round trip (go-back) and we proceed towards Buyer Ana Lake, which holds an important place in Alevi belief.
The path starts from a pass around 2500 m and largely continues along a goat path. We reach the lake after an up-and-down climb along the way. We reach approximately 2931 m from the starting altitude. We continue our walk through wide plains in places, amidst rich plant diversity. We have plenty of opportunities to take photos in the changing landscapes.
When we reach Buyer Ana Lake, we enjoy the impressive view of the lake. There are areas around the lake where offerings are made. We can see snow cover in some areas until mid-July. Those who wish can take short climbs down from here to capture panoramic views.
Depending on the weather and group situation, we also have the option of camping by the lake. Afterwards, we return by following the same route and descend to our vehicles.
In the evening, we return to our campsite in Dersim and stay in tents.

  • It is important to bring a windbreaker and an extra layer against weather changes.
  • There are many viewpoints for photography throughout the day.

We wake up at 7:00 AM and have breakfast. After breakfast, we visit the Dersim Museum and do some quick shopping for our needs. Then we set off towards Mazgirt district. After about a 35-minute journey, we arrive in Mazgirt.
In Mazgirt, we visit Mazgirt Castle, Elti Hatun Tomb, and Çoban Baba Tomb. Afterwards, we move from Mazgirt to Kale Village. We visit the Urartu castle in Kale Village and take photo breaks. From there, we move towards Kırklar Mountain.
After getting out of the vehicle, we begin our hike. We walk along a pleasant trail of 5 km, lasting approximately 2 hours. We continue our hike with gentle inclines, without a significant elevation difference. We visit the Urartu settlements and water cisterns on Kırklar Mountain and enjoy the view. Afterwards, we return to our vehicles and head towards Bağın Castle and Bağın Hot Springs. After completing our tour of the castle, we visit the hot springs and have a meal at a suitable restaurant. If we're lucky, we might also spot mountain goats in the area. At the end of the day, we return to Dersim city center and stay overnight at the hotel.

Today marks the end of our program. We'll have breakfast at the hotel this morning, then pack our belongings and head to Elazığ Airport. We'll enjoy the journey, talking about the scenery and the days we spent together.

We'll say goodbye at the airport, completing our program. To avoid any delays, it would be beneficial to book return tickets for evening hours.

Rezervasyon ve Ödeme: Faaliyete katılmak isteyen kişilerin öncelikle rezervasyon yaptırmaları gerekmektedir. Rezervasyonlar genellikle faaliyet başlangıç tarihinden önce belirli bir süre öncesine kadar yapılabilir. Rezervasyonun tamamlanması için belirli bir ödeme yapılması gerekmektedir. Ödeme yöntemleri tur firmasına göre değişebilir.

Faaliyet İptali ve Değişiklikler: Faaliyetlerimiz önceden planlamaktadır. Ancak bazı durumlarda faaliyet iptal edilebilir veya değiştirilebilir. Bu durumda tur firması, müşterilere en kısa sürede bilgi verir ve alternatif seçenekler sunar.

Hava Şartları: Tur firmaları, hava şartlarına bağlı olarak tur programlarını değiştirme veya iptal etme hakkına sahiptir. Bu nedenle, katılımcıların faaliyet sırasında hava şartlarına uygun kıyafetler ve ekipmanlar getirmeleri gerekmektedir.

Sigorta: Tur firmaları, müşterilerine tur sırasında yaşanabilecek olası durumlar için sigorta teklif edebilir. Sigorta konusunda detaylı bilgi tur firması tarafından sağlanır.

Tur Programı: Tur firmaları, müşterilerine sunduğu tur programları konusunda detaylı bilgi verir. Tur programında yer alan aktiviteler, yemekler ve konaklama detayları gibi bilgiler tur öncesinde müşterilere aktarılır.

Geç Kalmalar: Tur programına katılan müşterilerin tur başlangıç saati ve yeri konusunda titizlikle hazırlanmaları gerekmektedir. Tur başlangıç saatinde geciken müşteriler tur programına dahil edilemeyebilir

Personal Declaration-Acceptance and Risk Disclosure Form

1) In all kinds of outdoor activities such as hiking, trekking, mountaineering, rock climbing, orienteering, diving, water sports, cycling, camping, and any other activities organized by Süphan Mountaineering and Süphan Nature Sports Club, I acknowledge that all responsibilities are my own. I confirm that I have been informed of all risks and hazards associated with the activities, and I voluntarily accept all risks, including death, permanent and temporary disability, injury, and property damage. I acknowledge that I have been advised to obtain individual accident insurance and I will not hold Süphan Mountaineering and Süphan Nature Sports Club, the Turkish Mountaineering Federation, or any public institution or organization, coach, guide, or hike leader liable in any way, financially or morally. I accept and declare that I will take all necessary safety precautions individually, and I waive any recourse.

2) I declare that I do not have any health conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, respiratory diseases, muscle and joint rheumatism, epilepsy, etc., which could hinder my participation in outdoor activities and for which treatment is extremely difficult in nature. I declare that I am not taking any medication that prevents me from doing these sports and I am not under treatment. I also declare that I have medications with me for any allergic conditions that may occur in nature, and I accept and declare that I am responsible for any situation that may arise to the contrary.

3) I agree not to violate safety rules before and during activities, and I agree to follow the instructions and directives of the activity supervisor, coach, leader, or guide. I acknowledge and accept responsibility for any problems arising from non-compliance or personal errors.

4) I have been informed that outdoor activities involve risks due to weather conditions (storm and/or cold), rock structure under snow, route and difficulty level of the rock, risk of avalanche formation, snow structure, fog, rockfall, animal hazards, lack of knowledge, physical inadequacy, lack of training, carelessness, lack of concentration, excessive energy expenditure, excessive self-confidence, anxiety, loss of control, etc. I accept all these situations and potential risks, and I acknowledge that all responsibility belongs to me personally.

5) I agree not to harm wildlife and will only take photos/videos with a camera, phone, or camera during the activity. I agree to comply with all rules of the competent public institutions regarding the area we are in during the activity, and I acknowledge that I will be personally responsible if I do not comply with the rules. I accept that I will not hold Süphan Mountaineering and Süphan Nature Sports Club liable for any damage arising from non-compliance with this rule.

6) I agree to the sharing and use of some of my personal information such as Name, Surname, ID, Phone, and Email with the transport company, relevant federation, local authorities, and relevant public institutions, event and vehicle managers. I accept that my personal data will be stored in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law. I acknowledge that the photos and videos taken during Süphan Mountaineering and Süphan Nature activities may be used on the social media accounts and website of Süphan Mountaineering and Süphan Nature Sports Club, as well as in local or national media for promotional and news purposes. Additionally, I accept that the images (photos, videos) I have taken with my own imaging devices and shared in common message groups may be used by Süphan Mountaineering and Süphan Nature Sports Club, its business partners, or sponsors for promotional and news purposes in local or national media.

7) I consent to Süphan Mountaineering and Süphan nature sports club sending messages to my email and phone number regarding the activities I participate in.

8) I acknowledge that this document is not only an informative form but also an agreement between the parties, and I have signed it without being under any pressure. I accept that I will not hold Süphan Mountaineering and Süphan Nature Sports Club, the federations it is affiliated with, or any public institution, organization, or individual involved in the activity responsible in any way, financially or morally, if I act contrary to the above statements.

Reservation and Payment: Individuals who wish to participate in the activity must make a reservation first. Reservations can generally be made up to a certain period before the start date of the activity. To complete the reservation, a certain payment must be made. Payment methods may vary depending on the tour company.

Activity Cancellation and Changes: Our activities are planned in advance. However, activities may be canceled or changed under certain circumstances. In such cases, the tour company informs customers as soon as possible and offers alternative options.

Weather Conditions: Tour companies have the right to change or cancel tour programs depending on weather conditions. Therefore, participants must bring appropriate clothing and equipment for the weather conditions during the activity.

Insurance: Tour companies may offer insurance to customers for possible situations that may occur during the tour. Detailed information about insurance is provided by the tour company.

Tour Program: Tour companies provide detailed information about the tour programs they offer to customers. Information such as activities, meals, and accommodation details included in the tour program is communicated to customers before the tour.

Late Arrivals: Customers participating in the tour program must be prepared carefully for the start time and location of the tour. Customers who arrive late for the start time of the tour may not be included in the tour program.
