The Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of the Himalayas’ least-known yet most impressive trekking routes. Far from the crowds, this classic trail offers a powerful and authentic mountain experience through remote villages, glacial moraines, hidden valleys, and the iconic Larke Pass.

Following the Budhi Gandaki River, the trek ascends from lush valleys into the rugged landscapes of the Upper Himalayas. Challenging terrain, steep ascents and descents, and rocky sections demand physical endurance, while the route rewards trekkers with dramatic scenery and profound silence.

Larke Pass is the highest point accessible in the Manaslu region without a climbing permit and marks the most striking stage of the journey.

We meet at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to our 4-star hotel. After getting acquainted with the group, we hold a pre-trek briefing and then take time to rest.

Konaklama

Hotel

After breakfast, we will finish up the last few things and do our shopping for the hike. In the remaining time, we will visit Kathmandu's famous squares.

Konaklama

Hotel

After breakfast at the hotel, we can start our journey by private vehicle. The road will pass through rural villages and green hills as it turns into a rugged dirt road. We will see views of the southern slope of Mount Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Langtang Himal. After a 7-hour journey, we will stop for a meal.

Machka Khola, the gateway to Manaslu, is a village settlement with semi-hard dwellings. The settlement is surrounded by green hills and the Machha Khola (river).

Tomorrow our trek will begin; after a technical meeting, we will proceed to the tea house where we will stay.

Konaklama

Tea House

We will begin the first day of the trek with a hearty breakfast. As we walk along the banks of the Budhi Gandaki River, we may at times share the stone steps with mule caravans. The natural hot springs at Tatopani will offer a perfect place to take a break and relax.

After enjoying some time at the hot springs, we will cross a suspension bridge over the Budhi Gandaki River and follow the trail to Dobhan. In Nepali, Dobhan means “confluence,” and true to its name, this is where the Shari Khola and Sharpu Khola rivers meet.

The trail is undulating throughout the day, with the final section involving a steep three-hour ascent. Before resting in Jagat, we will make a brief stop at a checkpoint to ensure all required permits are in order. From this point onward, we will begin trekking into the restricted area.

Konaklama

Tea House

Today we leave Jagat and trek toward Deng, located at an altitude of approximately 1,880 meters. This 6–7 hour walk takes us across suspension bridges and through small villages along the Budhi Gandaki Valley. Undulating trails, stone steps, and river crossings shape the day, offering close encounters with local life. We reach Deng in the afternoon and settle in for the night.

Konaklama

Tea House

Starting from Deng, we trek toward Namrung at an altitude of approximately 2,630 meters. This 6–7 hour hike leads us through forested trails and past traditional Mani walls, reflecting the region’s strong Buddhist heritage. As we gain altitude, the mountain environment becomes more pronounced. This day plays an important role in acclimatization before we arrive in Namrung for the night.

Konaklama

Tea House

Today we depart from Namrung and head toward Samagaun, located at an altitude of approximately 3,520 meters. This 5–6 hour trek involves a gradual ascent, with the high-mountain village landscape becoming increasingly prominent. Samagaun is one of the key settlements in the region and serves as an important stop for the days ahead.

Konaklama

Tea House

Today is an important day for our bodies to acclimatize to the altitude we have gained during the Manaslu Circuit Trek. We can spend the day resting and enjoying breakfast, lunch, and dinner at our lodge.

For those who feel energetic, there are two optional hikes. Pungyen Gompa, located about 2.5 hours south of Sama Gaun, offers stunning views of Manaslu Mountain and the surrounding glacier. Along the way, it is possible to see yaks and Himalayan mountain goats grazing in the high pastures.

Alternatively, we may hike toward Manaslu Base Camp, situated north of Sama Gaun beyond Birendra Tal. The trail follows the Manaslu Glacier with a slow and gradual ascent. If needed, we can turn back at Birendra Tal.

As each option takes nearly a full day, we will choose one of these hikes for today.

Konaklama

Tea House

Today we leave Sama Gaun and trek to Samdo via Birendra Lake, reaching an altitude of approximately 3,875 meters. This 3–4 hour walk takes us through yak pastures and along scenic lake views. Although relatively short, the hike offers a gentle day that supports acclimatization at higher altitude.

Konaklama

Tea House

Today we set out for an exploration and acclimatization hike around Samdo. Depending on conditions, we hike toward Samdo Peak or in the direction of the Tibet border, reaching elevations of up to approximately 5,120 meters. This 7–8 hour hike is designed to support altitude acclimatization. The route may be adjusted based on weather conditions and the group’s overall condition

Konaklama

Tea House

Today we leave Samdo and trek toward Dharamsala (Larke Phedi), located at an altitude of approximately 4,460 meters. This 4–5 hour hike serves as preparation for the Larke Pass crossing the following day. We walk at a steady and controlled pace, surrounded by high-mountain scenery, and spend the remainder of the day resting and preparing for the pass day.

Konaklama

Tea House

Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. We start early and cross Larke Pass, reaching an elevation of 5,160 meters. This long and physically demanding day takes approximately 8–9 hours. After reaching the pass, we begin a gradual descent toward Bimthang. Surrounded by glacial landscapes and dramatic high-mountain views, this stage marks the pinnacle of the Manaslu Circuit Trek.

Konaklama

Tea House

Today we descend from the high alpine environment toward greener landscapes and inhabited areas. The trail from Bimthang leads through forests and open valleys, offering a more relaxed pace after the demanding pass crossing. We reach Tilije by the end of the day and rest for the night.

Konaklama

Tea House

Today we depart from Tilije and travel by jeep to Besisahar. From there, we continue by road to either Kathmandu (1,340 m) or Pokhara (800 m). The journey takes approximately 7–8 hours in total and marks our transition from the mountains back to the city. We conclude the program upon arrival at the chosen destination.

Konaklama

Hotel

Today we enjoy a city tour in Kathmandu or Pokhara, depending on the selected destination. We explore key cultural and historical landmarks, easing back into city life and bringing our journey to a relaxed conclusion.
